Getting Started

A: Account creation is handled through Discord. Join our Discord server first, then click “Play Now” on the website and follow the registration steps. Three game accounts are automatically created for you upon registration. No separate sign-up form required.

A: No. UO Unchained is a free to play server and donations are strictly voluntary. Download the client from our Play Now page.

A: Your game identity is tied to your Discord account. This keeps the registration process simple, reduces bot accounts, and ensures every player has access to our community and support channels from day one.

A: Make sure you have fully joined the server and accepted any membership requirements. If you’re still having issues, post in the #support channel on Discord and someone will help you out

A: Every registered player receives three game accounts automatically. They are named using your Discord username followed by -1, -2, and -3.

3 characters per account for a total of 9 characters across 3 accounts (Subject to change).

A: Yes, you will be prompted to pick another name at character creation if it is already in use.

Gameplay

A: UO Unchained is based on the T2A (The Second Age) era of Ultima Online with Renaissance-influenced systems. If you played UO between 1998 and 2001, this will feel familiar.

A: No. UO Unchained is Felucca only. There is no safe zone, no insurance, and no trammel ruleset. Full loot PvP applies across the entire map.

A: Skill gain has been set to a standard rate. Dungeons provide a skill gain boost for all skills other than crafting. Crafting skills gain at a slower rate and have a higher skill cap. We want to reward our crafting community and prevent item saturation.

A: Standard 700 skill cap and 225 stat cap. Each individual stat and skill is capped at 100 with the exception of Crafting skills.

A: Power scrolls for crafting skills are in. This is to unlock higher tier crafted items while also creating PvX content outside of our faction systems.

A: Each of your 3 game accounts can hold 1 house. Your characters are co-owned across all houses.

A: Yes. Mounts can be ridden anywhere in the open world with the exception of dungeons.

A: 1 point in strength is equal to 1 point of health.

Combat

A: Rule-set most closely resembles the T2A era, with infusion of some modified UO:R dynamics. Meaning there is instant hit weapon damage, healing through poison and the ability to precast and equip a weapon without cancelling your spell.

A: Swing speed is stamina based.

A: Two factors are involved: how quickly a player can fire after stopping, and how quickly they can fire again. Dexterity affects the initial shot delay — higher dexterity means a near-instant shot — while successive shots are stamina based.

A: No, only wrestling will decrease the chances of a player being hit if they unarmed.

A: All fencing weapons may be poisoned and have increased chance to apply poison. Macing weapons will deplete stamina and drain armor. Lumberjacking does not give a bonus to swords damage.

A: Purple potions are not “heat-seeking” and use variable timers. The Alchemy skill does NOT boost potion usage.

A: Inscription does not give a direct bonus to the Magic Resistance skill. However, a player with GM Inscription and Magery will have an increased protection from Magic Reflection, Protection, and Reactive Armor spells.

Citizenship and Factions

You may become a citizen as well as revoke citizenship by interacting with the town stone.

A: There are three factions — the Holy Order of Trinsic, the Yew Militia, and the Vesper Trading Company. You pledge your character to a faction and fight for control of eight contested cities. Each city has different capture mechanics. Check the Codex for full details on each faction and city.

A: No. Faction membership is per Discord account. Allowing players to have a character from each of their 3 accounts in each of the 3 factions would be exploited by the player base. You can be a citizen and enjoy the benefits of different cities on each account, but you can only join 1 faction.

A: Skara Brae is contested every Thursday at 8 PM server time. Blackrock is contested every Tuesday at 9 PM server time. These are one-hour combat windows with destructible siege gates, named champions, and continuous defender spawns. Miss them and your faction loses ground.

A: Each primary faction holds bi-weekly elections for a Lord Commander. The Lord Commander controls which town bonuses are active for their faction and their treasury. Elections run on a five-day nomination phase followed by a three-day voting phase. One vote per account.

A: Yes. As long as your second character is a citizen of the same town as your current faction character.

A: You must wait 48 hours before you are unbound from your township and revoking citizenship.

A: You must wait 72 hours before you are unbound from your townships faction.
